Let's talk about the marble city of #Ashgabat
. There are more marble clad buildings here than any city in the world. The falcon looking building is the airport and the marble is so polished it gleams. The first pic is a park. Where are the people??? The most people we saw were women literally sweeping the streets with brooms. It is beautiful, clean, and totally devoid of soul. You can feel the absence of any type of vibe. It felt like we were in the Wizard of Oz. The city was also very controlled - we were not allowed to go anywhere near government buildings or ask our guide anything that could be negative. People living in other parts of Turkmenistan are not allowed to move here despite the fact that so many apartment buildings sit empty. Our hotel was impressive and also nearly empty. At dinner we were the only two people in the dining room. I could go on and on, but you should just visit for yourself. I've never experienced anything like it!!
