Submissive. We never want to think of ourselves as submissive. It has a bad connotation for us. Weak. I let it roll around in my head all day and finally looked up the roots. Literally it means "to send oneself beneath a command." As much as we avoid being submissive, we expect children to be submissive to us. And animals. And even God. The times when I haven't been submissive to what I know I need to do, it hasn't gone well for me. Last month several people were submissive to a strange nudge to run a winter wear giveaway. Lots of coats and hats and mittens and boots were cleaned out of closets and given to people who needed them. One woman came at least 30 miles to get a coat for her 93-year-old mother. Sometimes being submissive can change the world.
