Boat Rock, GA. Danny Paulete topping out over Lynn's Arete, a classic V6 once at the center of a magnificent wooded field of granite egg-shaped boulders in urban Atlanta. In the late 90s developers began plans for a tract of houses here, and by 2002 the forest was razed right up to this spot. A group of Atlanta climbers cobbled together a coalition to purchase the remaining forest as a preserve, with help from an Access Fund grant. That was the start of a golden age of climbing land preservation and acquisitions in the Southeast, and today the Southeastern Climbers Coalition is one of the largest and most active local climbing organizations in the US.
