Today I thought I'd give everyone an update on me (Arya's momma) and on the service dog training I was doing with Arya. Long story short for those who don't know, I was in an abusive relationship throughout my teens that led me to get diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and almost every anxiety disorder you can think of when I was 19. Since getting Arya last May, things have improved for me like crazy. She was the reason I started going out of the house and smiling again. I'll never be able to repay her for her that. So when I was diagnosed with everything I was put on a high dosage of klonopin just to get through my days. Klonopin is a highly addictive medication that should only be used for a short period of time. I didn't find that out until after 5 years of being on it. In January I decided enough was enough and I needed to get this drug out of my body. I started the withdrawal process and it took 2 months of hellish nights and days where I felt like a depressed zombie, but I did it! I am extremely proud of myself and I couldn't have done it without my little moo by my side and keeping me going. These days, I am doing so much better and my mind feels clear and I'm content. That being said, I do not feel like I require a service dog anymore. I've reached the point where I can go places without the crippling flashbacks. Arya would have made an amazing psychiatric service dog, but I'm happy to just have as a best friend. I honestly never thought I'd reach this point. I dropped out of high school at 16 and now I'm graduating college this year. If you can learn anything from me, I hope you learn to never to give up on yourself and keep pushing forward. You have no idea what you are capable of achieving until you try! I appreciate all the support my followers have shown me. If I don't have time to reply to comments, I hope you know I am so thankful for each and every one of you!!
