A girl from Pagirinya refugee settlement stands in front of her primary school classroom. Pagirinya has been open since last July when the violence in #SouthSudan began, causing nearly 2,000 people to flee across the border each day, 65% of them under age 18. Thanks to @unrefugees there are three new school buildings being erected on the settlement to accommodate the steady influx of students. #WithRefugees Photo credit: @edward_echwalu

Girl Up Deputy Director @mrsannablue and @caradelevingne join in outdoor games with students from a Pagirinya refugee settlement primary school. Currently the school has 1,200 students, but needs resources to help it expand to 2,000 students next year. The settlement has only one secondary school, and many girls we talked to were concerned they won't be able to attend next year without funding for school fees that cover books, a uniform, and a mattress to sleep on. Champion @caradelevingne plays with a young refugee girl on the school yard at Nyumanzi primary school. When the school started, there were no buildings and students held class outside under the trees. Four years later and now there are three buildings for grades 1-6. Despite its incredible progress the school still needs more @unrefugees funding for supplies, uniforms, and food so that more children can attend. #WithRefugees #nofilter Photo credit 📸 @edward_echwalu

I met a teacher today with a group of refugee girls, there's two doctors, two lawyers, two journalists, an engineer, who all shared with me and @girlupcampaign what they wanted to be when they grew up. It was so amazing to visit their Nyumanzi settlement primary and sit down and talk with each of them. @unrefugees #withrefugees ・・・ #Repost @caradelevingne with @repostapp ・・・

An ordinary moment on the school playground, girls giggling and chatting, takes on new meaning when you know that thousands of refugee girls nearby don't have a chance to enroll in school at all. No classes. No learning. No chance to be a child. Many #SouthSudan refugee girls in Uganda are pressured to remain at home to help with household duties, while others, as young as 13, are forced into child marriage by their families. Thanks to @unrefugees education system at BidiBidi refugee settlement, these two are safe, educated, and have hope for the future. #WithRefugees 📸Photo credit: @edward_echwalu

Girls from the Bidibidi primary school from zones I and II welcome us and @unrefugees to their school with a special performance. Classes at the school are crowded with more than 100 students packed into tents that serve as classrooms. Both teachers and students spoke with us about the needs of their school, including textbooks, uniforms, and more buildings. All of the girls we spoke to hoped to go on to secondary school and university. #WithRefugees

Education does not finish when you leave school. This is 17year old Mary who is holding her two months old child after fleeing from South Sudan to Uganda. Something I have seen here and have been completely blown away by is the unparalleled strength of the mothers #withrefugees ・・・ #Repost @caradelevingne with @repostapp

A young refugee girl smiles near a well at a UNHCR transition center in northern Uganda. Her resilience is contagious. She arrived today at the center and awaits transport to a nearby settlement. She is one of more than 450,000 refugees who have fled from #SouthSudan into Uganda at the rate of over 2,000 per day since July 2016, the majority women and children. Once across the border @unrefugees gives them a hot meal and transports them to a settlement within a day. Learn more about our trip with Champion @caradelevingne and how you can help support our partnership with UNHCR in Uganda helping refugee girls go to school at (link in bio). #WithRefugees

Girl Up Champion @caradelevingne meets with refugee girls waiting to be transported to a settlement at @unrefugees' Kuluba Transition Center. Fleeing violence in #SouthSudan, many of the girls had walked for seven days to reach Uganda and some were separated from family members along the way. Despite their harrowing journeys, the girls remained optimistic and were looking forward to starting school at their new settlements. Girl Up's support of UNHCR's programming for refugee girls' education has helped over 4,414 refugee girls in Uganda go to school. #WithRefugees Photo credit: @edward_echwalu
